WHAT IS MEDICINE HAT NEWS ONLINE AUCTION 2015?

It’s one of Canada’s daily newspaper silent auctions and it’s now right here in Medicine Hat. For a period of 4 consecutive days, the readers of The Medicine Hat News can bid on all sorts of great merchandise and services…and have the chance to save some REAL dollars at the same time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Rather than a live auction like you’re probably used to, Medicine Hat News Auction 2015 is a silent auction. Instead of an auctioneer taking bids, there is an Auction Trust Committee that oversees the whole bidding process. People submit their bid online and can continue bidding on the item as the price rises. The Auction Trust Committee monitors the bidding on their behalf according to a predetermined set of rules. When the auction is finished, the person who has submitted the highest bid will buy the item for that amount.

ARE THESE ALL NEW ITEMS?

Yes! All items in Medicine Hat News Auction 2015 are brand new (unless otherwise stated) and come with applicable warranties, just as if you purchased the item direct from a retailer. The selling prices listed throughout this program reflect the actual retail prices of their respective items.

WHEN DOES THE AUCTION

TAKE PLACE?

Medicine Hat News Auction 2015 commences Thursday October 29th, 2015 and concludes at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday November 1st, 2015, with bids accepted 24/7.

WHY PARTICIPATE?

Besides the fact that you may never again have the opportunity to buy items like the ones we’re featuring at such UNHEARD OF SAVINGS, bidding is competitive, exciting and fun!

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Bidding is open to anyone 18 years of age or over. Employees of The Medicine Hat News and their immediate families are ineligible to participate. Employees of participating businesses may bid, but not on items that are provided by their respective companies.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

Bid early and bid wisely. Here’s how:

Find an item(s) that catches your eye. Maybe it’s something you need, maybe something you want for yourself or maybe as a gift for someone. Visit or contact the participating businesses to view or to learn more about the item(s) you will be bidding on.

Go online to medicinehatauctions.com , and find the item you are interested in, then make a bid that is higher than the existing bid.

DOES MY BID INCLUDE TAX?

NO! Successful bidders will be responsible for all applicable taxes on the items they purchase at their winning bid. Note: Taxes for vehicles must be paid on the fair market value, as per Government tax legislation.

AFTER I’VE SUBMITTED A BID, CAN I ALTER IT OR WITHDRAW IT?

NO! Once a bid is submitted it cannot be modified in any way nor can it be withdrawn. That is why you must be sure you are able to purchase an item for the amount of your Bid should you win the auction for that item.

HOW DO I KEEP TRACK OF

THE AUCTION?

Follow the day-to-day bidding online at medicinehatauctions.com or in the Medicine Hat News. Each update in the daily paper will consist of item description, retail value and bid value taken at 2 pm the day before. If you notice in the paper that you are outbid, that is to say the published bid level is higher than your bid, you might want to consider submitting a higher bid to still try and win that auction item.

WHAT IS THE USERNAME?

The published username of a bidder is a way to protect the identity of a high bidder on an auction while still letting that bidder know their status.

WHAT IS THE RESERVE STATUS?

The opening bid is the reserve bid. Any bid must be higher than the opening bid or the item will not be sold.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M THE
WINNING BIDDER?

Winning bidders will be notified by email and winning bids will be published Tuesday November 3rd, 2015. You will be able to pick up a certificate or make arrangements for your item when you pay for it at the Medicine Hat News.

HOW DO I PAY FOR THE ITEM(S) I HAVE PURCHASED IN THE AUCTION?

Winning bid amounts must be paid in full to the Medicine Hat News by 4:30 p.m. on Friday,
November 6, 2015.

You may pay cash, certified cheque, money order, VISA or MasterCard. (NOTE: Vehicle auction winners will be advised at time of contact of special payment procedures).

ITEMS MUST BE PICKED UP AT THE RETAILER WITHIN 1 MONTH OF RECEIPT OF PAYMENT, UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS BETWEEN WINNING BIDDER AND THE RETAILER HAVE BEEN MADE.
